As you might have heard, I'm currently working in munich for the next 3 weeks. Because it got really hot outside, @schlingel and I decided to go into the rather cool (as in temperature means) "Deutsches Musem", the largest museum of the world, and look at interesting stuff like old computer, photography stuff, all sorts of transportation vehicles, be it on land, sea, air and space.

While we were sitting in Bastis car, we realized that parking in Munich can be quite expensive and that it would be really hard to find a parking place for his rather large-ish car. Basti had the great idea, to try out a new service, called DriveNow. It's basically like renting one of those bicycles standing on every corner, but for cars. Really cool stuff from the local company BMW I must admit. So, after Basti signed up for the service we drove to nearest car, and switched there. Oh boy, I really love Mini Convertibles now. The good thing about the service is, that you can just go to a car, unlock it with an RFID-chip on your drivers-license and drive right away. Then, when you reached your destination you lock the car again and simply leave it where it is. So did we when we arrived at the Deutsches Museum at the Museumsinsel (near the Isar-Gate).

And what can I say. This museum is simply impressive. First, it's really cheap. Students like me just pay 3€. That's only two cups of coffee for a whole museum. Awesome! And you really see a lot there. In fact the museum is so big, you can't see everything in one day. This visit alone could fill a whole blog post, but believe me, it's really great, although very large parts of the museum are currently under construction (you get free entry to the two partner museums though).

After the visit we decided it was time for eating, so we looked for another DriveNow car, this time a Mini Cooper (still cool, but not as cool as a convertible). We decided to go to the Vapiano at the ZOB. Really good decision. Nomnomnom.

As we still had some spare time afterwards, we decided to also visit the Transportation museum near the Wiesn (this is one of the two partner museums I talked about earlier). There were all sorts of transportation vehicles, from the first bicycles, to the first cars, trains and undergrounds. Especially the part where you learn how modern steering wheels, gears and engines work was very interesting as you could try out very much of it.

Basti then wanted to try the last missing car from the DriveNow car pool, a BMW 1 series. I think this is also a very cool car, but I have to admit that the ceiling is a little bit low for me, as I'm a rather tall guy.
All in all I think this was a pretty cool day. Looking forward to tomorrow! :)

Oh, and thanks again Basti!
